A lil' food rant...

Hi friends of Hazelnutt House (",)

hmmm... I don't wish to trash this place that I recently visited but I really wonder if any of you ladies have had similar experience or maybe it was just the branch that I went to or it could be the food selection that I've picked.

So, I was at Everything with Fries one weekend for some finger food coz my friends and I weren't hungry... just peckish... *peck peck* ... like mother hens...

We ordered a serving of Sour Cream and Onion straightcut fries and it was rather bland and the texture of the fries was like cardboard... it also seem to us that the fries were re-fried judging from its appearance.

We eyed the Mille Crepe when we entered the place, thinking that it will taste fab coz it looked great! When we took a bite each, there was silence... no one commented on the cake which was strange, coz girls, being girls, we love our desserts. Once again, it was bland with a strange 'uncooked' texture. The crepe was plasticky and the cream didn't sit well with the crepe either. I imagined myself eating play doh... I decided to try it again, but my friends and I decided to abandon the cake... It just wasn't worth the calories.

The abandoned cake... shared among three person... I think we ate less than half of it.

My friend order another dish, I can't remember the name of this dish but it was aubergine in cream sauce. It came in a huge deep dish and the aubergine in the middle was drowned in excess cream sauce. Although the two tiny pieces of aubergine tasted decent, the amount of cream sauce was a turn off. The cream sauce didn't even taste good to begin with. It was once again bland... with a very strong smell of pure cream.

Thank goodness, my friends and I decided to have dinner at Xian De Lai steamboat at Liang Seah Street. Steamboat is steamboat... can't really go wrong. At least we had some decent food to knock out the one we had earlier in the day.
